Race Preview: Copper X Prix
Extreme E
Chip Ganassi Racing's No. 99 GMC HUMMER EV team enters the final doubleheader race weekend of the year in contention for Extreme E’s Season 3 championship. RJ Anderson, Amanda Sorensen and the No. 99 team are currently fourth in the championship standings, just 19 points away from breaking into the top-three and 40 points away from the series leaders.
Despite searching for their first victory on the year, the team has been extremely consistent, advancing to compete in the Grand Final in seven of the eight rounds this year.
“Overall, it’s been a pretty solid year with Amanda and I building on success and winning a lot of heats,” said Anderson. “The only thing left now is to bring home that win, and I think we have a really good shot at doing it here in Chile.”
The series will be returning to Chile’s Atacama Desert for the second time, as the Chip Ganassi Racing team produced a P4 effort in the Grand Final in 2022. The terrain is predominantly soft earth with scattered rocks of various sizes, incorporating sandy sections and smaller rocky areas.
“I’ve watched a lot of videos on this track, and I feel it fits both RJ and I’s driving styles,” said Sorensen. “We will definitely have to pull out all the stops because these are the last races of the year.”
The on-track action kicks off on Friday, December 1, with two practices, followed by the doubleheader race days on Saturday and Sunday. Click here for the full Copper X Prix broadcast schedule.
