CGR Places P4 After Hectic Finale in Chile
Extreme E held the Semi Finals, Crazy Race and Final at the Copper X Prix in Antofagasta, Chile, today.
The No. 99 GMC HUMMER EV pushed hard but did not advance through Semi Final 2. However, as the official alternate, the team was thrust into the Final after a competitor was not able to power their way to the starting line.
The Chip Ganassi Racing crew then had less than two minutes to exit the garage and make their way to the track. Kyle LeDuc was able to catch his breath and put the HUMMER EV in a prime position after piloting the first two laps. Sara Price then jumped into the car for the final two laps, charged hard and was the second driver across the finish line. Unfortunately, the team was relegated to P4 after missing a waypoint during the race.
After a roller coaster ride of a day, Chip Ganassi Racing leaves the Copper X Prix with 55 points on the year to remain in championship contention. They sit 4th in the standings heading into November’s season finale in Uruguay.

"I can honestly say I’ve never put on a suit that fast. Talk about an emotional roller coaster. We went from missing the Final, to the podium to P4. I can’t be prouder of our team because it’s just been a crazy day, to say the least. Our team took every chance we possibly could and with everything thrown at us, we just went for it. I’m super proud of the GMC HUMMER EV Chip Ganassi Racing team and everyone that is involved.”

“We were in position to jump in and take advantage should someone not make it to the grid. The car was all set, and the team was just inside ready to watch the race. The team got everything ready, and we jumped out there as fast as we could right into race mode. We feel bad for RXR to miss the start like that; we wouldn’t wish that on anybody. But you need to take an advantage where you can and today, we capitalized on that. We just went for it. It was awesome racing and I hope you all enjoyed watching it and enjoying it. For the Chip Ganassi GMC HUMMER EV team, we pulled one out and gained more points than we had originally thought.”
