VOTE for INDYCAR Series Champ Alex Palou to win 'Best Driver' ESPY
INDYCAR
Honors keep coming for Alex Palou after he won the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship in his first season driving for Chip Ganassi Racing and only his second season in the INDYCAR series.
Palou is one of four nominees for the ‘Best Driver’ award at the 2022 ESPYS, the annual sports awards show created by ESPN. Fans can vote for Alex Palou by clicking here. The winner will be revealed during the ESPYS show, which airs July 20.
Alex capped off his first year with Chip Ganassi Racing with three wins at Barber Motor Park, Road America and Portland Grand Prix. He also brought home the 14th INDYCAR championship for CGR and became the first Spaniard to do so. Alex secured 8 podiums in 16 races. He earned 12 top-10 finishes and led 137 laps and earned 549 points for the No. 10 NTT DATA Honda, which was a 38-point advantage over the field.
How consistent was Alex and the No. 10 NTT DATA Honda last year? If Palou had been runner-up in all three of his wins last year, he still would have been crowned champion.
He's the first driver to win the title before turning 25 since Scott Dixon in 2003.
Cast your vote now and tune in to the ESPYS on ABC on July 20 at 8:00 PM ET.
